Our Process: Transforming Cabinets with Precision and Care
We follow a meticulous and professional cabinet painting process tailored to ensure stunning and durable results for your kitchen:
1. Cabinet Door and Drawer Removal
We start by carefully removing all cabinet doors and drawer fronts and transporting them to our shop. There, we spray-finish them to perfection, resulting in a flawless and even coat that enhances both the appearance and durability of your cabinets.
2. Protecting Your Home
Your home is our priority. We cover your floors, countertops, and other surfaces to keep them
clean and free from paint splatter or debris.
3. Surface Preparation
We thoroughly degrease and sand all surfaces to be painted, removing dirt, grease, and grime. Our dustless sanding system minimizes mess and ensures improved primer adhesion for a
long-lasting finish.
4. Priming and Painting
- Priming: After surface preparation, we apply two coats of shellac primer, lightly sanding between each coat to achieve a smooth and even base. During this step, we also address any necessary patching to ensure a seamless finish.
- Painting: Once priming is complete, we apply two coats of ILVA 2K Poly 30, a premium industrial wood coating known for its exceptional durability and resistance to chipping and peeling.
5. On-Site Cabinet Box Painting
Cabinet boxes are painted on-site using a brush and roller, following the same meticulous preparation and painting process as the doors and drawers.
6. Reinstallation of Doors and Drawers
Once the painting is complete, we reinstall the doors and drawer fronts, delivering beautifully refreshed cabinets that elevate your space.
FAQ'S
Do I need to remove everything from my cabinets?
We recommend removing all items from your cabinets for the best results. If you choose not to remove items, please push them to the back of the cabinets. Dust will settle on your belongings, though we do our best to minimize it. Drawers should be emptied if the entire drawer must be transported.
Do you paint the inside of cabinets?
Painting the inside of cabinets is not recommended to maintain their original functionality and integrity. However, we can accommodate this request for an additional charge.
What should I do about the hardware?
Homeowners are responsible for providing new hardware. Please inform us beforehand if the new hardware does not align with the existing holes. Adjustments such as drilling new holes or filling old ones will incur an additional charge.
How long does the process take?
- The typical timeline includes:
- 2-3 days on-site to paint cabinet boxes.
- 7-11 days for doors and drawers, which are sprayed at our shop.

Cabinet Painting Warranty & Expectations
1. Natural Wood Movement
Wood cabinets naturally expand and contract due to changes in temperature and humidity, which can cause slight lines where panels meet stiles and rails. We recommend maintaining stable temperature and humidity levels in your home.
2. Imperfections with Color Changes
Transitioning from darker to lighter colors may reveal minor imperfections previously hidden. These can include slight door warping, gaps where cabinets meet walls or ceilings, or alignment issues due to original installation.
3. Painting Inside Cabinets
Painting the interiors of cabinets is not typically advised. However, we’re happy to accommodate this for an additional charge.
4. Hardware Adjustments
If you’re providing new handles or knobs, please inform us if they don’t match the existing holes. We can drill new holes or fill old ones for a smooth look, but this service will incur an extra charge.
5. Our Commitment to Excellence
Our team strives to handle every detail with care and precision. While we aim for perfection, some structural elements of your cabinets may be beyond our ability to modify or improve.
6. Our Warranty
We stand by our work with a two-year warranty covering defects in the product or its application. The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear.
- Natural expansion and contraction of wood.
- Imperfections revealed by color changes.
- Painting the interior of cabinets.
- Pre-existing structural or hardware issues.
