Updated En Suite Master Bathroom Remodel in Winfield by J&J Construction of Illinois

The benefits of renovating your outdated bathroom are endless. Not only will you increase property value, you’re likely to select more energy efficient material  and improve safety features. A bathroom renovation is the perfect time to address any damage or necessary repairs and to consider your family’s needs moving forward. Lifestyles change, and as the years progress our wants and needs for the spaces in our homes change as well.

This en suite bathroom in Winfield went from outworn to modern and functional. Everything was replaced. The oversized tub commonly seen throughout the 1980s and 1990s was replaced with a luxurious walk-in shower. By doing so, we created room for a large vanity and tall linen closet (hooray for more storage!). Notable in this renovation are the tiled walls. With walls completely tiled, homeowners are able to keep this space squeaky clean. Every decision we made kept high-end luxury in mind, and the end result is a master bathroom this couple is thrilled to use daily.

Ask any couple what their one must-have in an en suite is and the answer is unanimous: double sinks. Due to the way we reconfigured the space, this bathroom got two sinks without sacrificing any counter space. Here you’ll see two undermount oval sinks by Kohler with lever sink faucet handles in a chrome finish, also by Kohler. This Caxton model sink is easy-to clean, and combines the sleek look of an integrated basin with a timeless design that compliments both traditional and modern designs.

The ample countertop space is as beautiful as it is functional. This is Hanstone quartz in Aura, a stunning veined pattern that has movement and flawlessly blends warm and cool tones, which compliments many decor ideas. Quartz isn’t solely popular in kitchens: more and more bathrooms are selecting it for its heat, stain, and scratch resistance. Additionally, quartz is low-maintenance, durable, and eco-friendly. Below this gorgeous countertop with a mini-beveled edge are white cabinets with osage doors and  silver knobs and handles.

Part of the renovation process is determining what our client’s needs are. In this case, our homeowners were willing to forego a bathtub in order to install a luxurious walk-in shower, knowing that suited their lifestyle better. This beautiful and bright shower includes a full bench seat, a 12×20 storage niche, and a towel hook inside the shower. These features allow our homeowners to age in their current space with ease. The showerhead by Kohler is from the Artifacts collection, popular for its classic single-function design, and its air-induction technology that delivers a powerful, even spray. Our vanity faucet is also from the Artifacts collection, creating a uniformed look in polished chrome.

Lighting is essential to the perfect bathroom design. If lighting is done correctly, your space will feel taller, larger and brighter. Above the vanity you’ll notice a 3-light vanity fixture in clear glass and polished chrome by Signature Hardware. These frameless LED lighted mirrors add task lighting and add to the overall ambience of the bathroom. They include a nightlight on/off switch that provides sleek design and function. These mirrors can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. Here we’ve decided to install them vertically, which uses up wall space and makes the room feel a bit taller. We also installed a can light in the shower, which serves as a substitute when natural light isn’t abundant.

When we sat down with our clients, it was important that this master bathroom was easy to maintain. One of the ways that we achieved this was by incorporating tile in several places. The wall tile throughout the bathroom and shower is by Virginiatile, the Soho collection in both 3×6 and 4×12 white glossy subway tiles. The accent rail molding tile runs throughout and we love the way this turned out. The main floor and shower flooring boast a beautiful basketweave mosaic pattern of 12×12 cloud blue tiles

Finishing touches for this Winfield master bathroom renovation include a two-piece elongated toilet from the Memoirs Stately collection by Kohler,  and wall accessories from the Artifacts collection in polished chrome. However you decide to decorate your master bathroom, the selections in this renovation project would provide a beautiful canvas. It is now modern, light, clean, bright, and functional.
