Our designers worked with a lovely woman who made it her priority to age in place, safely. We consulted several senior-friendly bathroom design ideas and got to work. We did not change the footprint of this master bathroom, but we did update everything from top to bottom. And by bottom, we’re referring to the dated bathroom carpet! This bathroom renovation is one to marvel at, from its bright beautiful floors to the stunning tub to shower conversion. Cabinet and countertop selection sets the tone for the overall aesthetic of your master bathroom renovation. You may decide to go with a dark bathroom vanity, or stick with something light and bright. These Hanstone countertops in Fusion are polished, gray and cool. They offer quarter round edges and a backsplash. This countertop tone includes tranquil shades of gray alongside warm whites. Our homeowner really loved these countertops for her new space. The clean and bright cabinets are Bertch with Quebec doors and drawers in a white satin finish. This combination really opens up the space, making it appear larger and more modern.
This vanity is truly a showstopper. It’s classic, clean, and energy efficient as well. The vanity sink by Kohler is simple, yet attractive. It’s easy-to-clean with the look of an integrated basin with a timeless design that suits both traditional and modern decors. This Caxton sink with widespread vanity faucet is sleek and refined. You can’t help but notice two gorgeous vertical rectangular LED mirrors. LED mirrors offer consistent and adjustable lighting, making tasks like shaving and makeup application more precise. Additionally, they are energy efficient, reducing electricity bills in the long run when compared to traditional bulbs. This is not only a trend we’re seeing in bathroom renovations, but highly desired by homeowners.
For a cohesive appearance, we used the same tiles for both the main floor and shower walls. These are matte 12×24 rectangular tiles in Carrara. You’ll notice a complimentary grout color in cobblestone, which blends seamlessly with the rest of the bathroom tones. For the main tile floor we’ve placed them parallel to the doorway, which makes the room feel wider. Carrara tiles are nonporous, easy to clean, durable, not to mention stunning and elegant, making them an ideal material for master bathrooms.
We’re seeing more and more homeowners opt for larger showers in place of bathtubs. For clients of a certain age, a large tub is not only unnecessary but also unsafe. This tub to shower conversion allowed for easier access. We’ve installed a grab bar to aid in stepping into the shower as well. Stepping over a tub to get into the shower can be hazardous for many individuals. This shower renovation also includes a glass door, making it easy to open to get in and out. The shower includes two triangular shelves for storage to store bottles and a chrome faucet by Kohler that mimics the chrome elsewhere in the remodel. This Devonshire faucet brings a versatile and traditional style to this bathroom. Safety and style. Check. Check.
To round out this beautiful design we incorporated an elongated toilet by Kohler. This industry staple from the highline series has innovative features and high performance. This toilet complements a variety of bathroom styles. Wall accessories include a toilet roll holder, towel bar, and two robe hooks, all in polished chrome. The exhaust fan offers additional lighting, and we’ve selected a cool gray hue for the wall color. This is Silver Lake by Benjamin Moore, a gorgeous gray that evokes serenity, typically a popular color choice in bathroom renovations.
